ZTE today has officially launched the nubia Flip 5G for the Malaysian market. For many, this may seem like deja vu, especially given the fact that the phone had previously debuted locally back in April. According to the company, that was apparently the global version of the product and the one officially announced today is the official local model.
So what are the differences? Apart from a significant price drop, everything else offered by the official local release of nubia Flip 5G is unchanged from the global version.
To recap, ZTE and nubia’s clamshell foldable smartphone packs 1.43-inch OLED cover display, and a 6.9-inch OLED inner screen with 120Hz refresh rate. Under its hood is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 chipset, along with 8GB of RAM (expandable up to 20GB via virtual memory) and 256GB of internal storage.
Meanwhile, powering it is a 4,310mAh battery with 33W fast charging support via USB-C. The phone also comes with wireless connectivity support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.2, and NFC.
In terms of imaging, the nubia Flip 5G features a dual camera setup on its cover, which consists of a 50MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor. Found on the inner display’s punch-hole cutout, on the other hand, is a 16MP selfie camera.
The nubia Flip 5G is slated to arrive in Malaysia from 1 August 2024, with pre-orders available now until 31 July via nubia’s official store on Shopee. The local version is priced at RM2,499, which is significantly RM1,500 cheaper than the global model when it debuted in Malaysia back in April. As for colour options, the phone is available in either Cosmic Black or Sunshine Golden.
