Ever since its first debut, Samsung’s foldable smartphone lineup has been the talk of the town and has been widely regarded as one of the most innovative designs that the South Korean tech giant has ever developed. Since then, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip series, now in its sixth iteration, has received significant upgrades, even when compared to its predecessor.
How different is the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 compared to the Galaxy Z Flip5? Well, for starters, the former features significant hardware and software improvements, new and improved AI features, improved content creation potential, and much more! Here’s all the reasons why you should make the jump to the latest foldable phone on the block.
New and Improved Camera
One of the largest improvements that this foldable line received, in terms of hardware, is a fully upgraded camera. The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 now sports a 50MP primary camera, compared to the Galaxy Z Flip5’s 12MP. This massive jump in camera quality opens a wide range of possibilities for content creation as it is able to capture higher-resolution images, especially in low-light conditions, thanks to having a larger sensor.
If you want to take hands-free selfies, then FlexZoom has you covered. With the power of AI, this feature will automatically zoom in and out to get the best possible quality and angle. And with the aforementioned improved image quality, it can even zoom in and capture subjects in the distance with pristine clarity.
Photo Assist
Of course, what better way to take advantage of this upgraded camera setup than with Photo Assist? With its built-in Generative Edit feature, this lets you adjust angles, move, remove, or resize people and objects to wherever you need them, then let AI fill in the gaps you left behind in the background. Shoot first and fix later.
You can also convert all your portraits and give yourself an AI makeover, if you want, with the Portrait Studio. Transform your chosen photo into a studio, vintage photo, or even a 3D Disney-like character with the press of a button, or add some dazzling animations to make the image uniquely you.
If you would like to add some additional details or features to any given image, such as horns, glasses, hearts, and more, then why not sketch it? That’s right, you can now directly sketch a desired object into the image and let Galaxy AI add a believable AI rendition of it – with accurate lighting and all!
Meanwhile, video creators on the go also get a brand new tool to play with: Instant Slow-Mo. This allows a slow-mo video to be instantly created with just a few quick taps without the need of a video editing app.
Smart Reply
However, that’s not the only thing the updated Galaxy AI on the Galaxy Z Flip6 is capable of. With the Smart Reply feature, you can readily have the answers to any replies straight from the phone’s cover screen. The phone will go through and analyse the last 10 messages to understand the tone of the conversation and serve you with three quick reply suggestions for you to tap and send. And with the power of AI, the device will tweak the message so that it better resembles a human tone.
Interpreter
One of the most innovative tricks that the Galaxy AI had in the previous generation was the addition of Live Translate, a stunning feature that lets you communicate with various people from any part of the world without learning an entirely new language. Simply talk into your phone as you would with any other call and let the AI translate your words to the listener’s native tongue and vice versa.
But what if there’s no need for a call because the person you need to speak to is there in person? Well, the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 has you covered with the improved Interpreter feature. With Conversation Mode, you can speak into the phone as is and let it translate your message to text or have the AI read it aloud, saving you the hassle of passing the device around.
Alternatively, you can also take advantage of the Galaxy ZFlip6’s FlexWindow and communicate with the Dual Screen Mode. Through this mode, the interpreter will let you speak in your preferred language and flash the translation on the FlexWindow for the addressee to read, and vice versa.
However, if only one person is in need of translation, this is where Listening Mode comes into play. This is a new addition to the device’s translating arsenal that lets you have a one-way interpretation for the person in need without interchanging speakers. What’s more, you can do all these things without the need for an online connection, as long as you have the language pack downloaded.
A Full Upgrade The Inside Out
Of course, with all these superior software and AI upgrades, it’s only natural that the hardware also keeps up. In contrast to its predecessor’s IPX rating, the Galaxy Z Flip6 gets an upgraded IP48 rating for both water and dust resistance to its chassis. Additionally, it can stay with you for longer thanks to its 4,000mAh battery, which is a slight upgrade compared to the Galaxy Z Flip5’s 3,700mAh capacity, but still makes a world of difference.
With all these features and more down the pipeline, there’s no doubt that the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 is far superior to its predecessor in every possible way. If you’d like to be on top of your AI and foldable game, then visit Samsung’s official website to find out more!
