RHB Bank has announced that its debit and credit cards are now supported by Google Wallet. Needless to say, this allows customers of the bank to conduct wireless transactions directly via their smartphones at NFC-supported payment terminals.
This addition now brings the number of supported local banks by Google Wallet up to nine. To recap, others in the list include Maybank, Public Bank, Standard Chartered, Hong Leong Bank, CIMB, Bank Muamalat, HSBC, and AmBank. It should be noted that the digital wallet also supports online payment platform Wise.

To add your RHB debit or credit card, launch Google Wallet and then tap on “+ Add to Wallet”. From there, you can include your card by either scanning it with your phone’s camera or entering its details manually. A verification process will follow after, and completing that will then allow you to use your card as a payment option for Google Wallet.
Keep in mind that debit card payments through this approach are binded by your daily spending limit which you’ve set via RHB Online Banking. In its FAQ, RHB notes that any transactions above RM250 will require you to key in your card’s PIN number on the terminal for verification.
Other than that, the bank adds that you will also earn the same rewards points/miles/cashback for transactions made using your RHB card via Google Pay. Overseas payments are also supported, provided that you’ve activated the CNP (Card-Not-Present) and Overseas Transaction ability via RHB Online Banking.
On a related note, RHB previously announced that its cards are officially supported by Apple Pay back in May this year. Much like Google Wallet service, this allows users to use the bank’s credit or debit cards for payments via Apple’s own payment service on supported devices such as iPhones, iPads, and so on.
