Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL) and AREX Airport Railroad Co. Ltd. (AREX) have officially announced a partnership to provide seamless travel between Kuala Lumpur and Incheon, South Korea. The partnership, according to the joint statement by both companies, will enable passengers travelling to and from either locations to purchase bundled KLIA Expres & AREX train tickets in a single transaction via popular travel app Klook.
ERL CEO Noormah Mohd Noor highlighted that this partnership aims to establish an alliance among airport rail operators similar to airline alliances like OneWorld and Star Alliance. She added that the company is motivated to reach out to other operators across the globe to establish similar alliances in the near future.
Meanwhile, AREX CEO Kim Jongdae said both the company and ERL are looking forward to sharing each other’s strengths and providing more convenient railway services through close cooperation in various fields. South Korean ambassador Yeo Seung-bae, who witnessed the partnership signing between the two operators, expressed that this collaboration would strengthen the relationship between the two countries and improve railway service quality.
Even though the partnership was just officially announced, the KLIA Expres x AREX Bundle Package is actually available via Klook since 15 July 2024, with each one-way adult ticket currently priced at RM71.25. In conjunction with its launch, purchase for the first 500 tickets are offered with an introductory 10% discount.
In case you’re wondering, Klook confirms that the bundle includes express train rides from both airport rail operators. For your reference, a one-way ticket for KLIA Expres costs RM55, while its AREX counterpart is priced at KRW9,500 (~RM32). Purchasing both tickets separately will total at around RM87, therefore going for the Klook bundle will save you RM15.75, which isn’t a bad deal.
