Slack has introduced an update for its iPhone app, introducing its first set of widgets for the Apple smartphone’s home screen and lock screen. This feature allows you to rapidly jump back and forth between different apps and the Slack app itself, as well as allowing you to open it while your phone is locked.
One of the widgets that appear on the home screen is “Catch Up” that shows unread messages or any unfinished drafts, reminding you of what you recently missed or haven’t worked on yet in a subtle manner. You can also add a new Slack widget on your lock screen, which lets you quickly open the app after unlocking.
Three 3⃣new Slack iOS widgets are here to make your workday a whole lot easier. 👏

There’s also two other widgets that allow you to manage your current status on Slack. While both offer the same functionality, the bigger version offers preselected status filters ranging from “Focus”,“Take a break”, or “Lunch.” Meanwhile, the smaller version merely acts as a shortcut that takes users directly to the Status section of the app. Take note that these pre-selected status options aren’t customisable as of yet.
Make sure your iPhone is running on iOS 17 or above in order to attain these new widgets. To add them, press and hold your Home or Lock screen to bring up the customisation menu, and then tap the plus symbol on the top-left hand corner for the former, or in the middle for the latter. After that, simply add the new Slack widgets from the list.
