Samsung has been working on a new entry-level smartphone dubbed the Galaxy A06 and while no official announcement has been made, it will likely be coming to Malaysia soon. The upcoming device has made an appearance on the SIRIM database, signifying its imminent local launch.
The Galaxy A06 received SIRIM certification on 18 July 2024 with the model number SM-A065F/DS. Its predecessor, the Galaxy A05, arrived here in October last year, so we can expect a similar timeframe for the upcoming budget phone. While details about it are scarce, some of its specs have been leaked through databases and benchmarks.
For one thing, it seems that the phone will be running on the same MediaTek Helio G85 chipset as its predecessor with 6GB of RAM, although the latter could vary depending on the market. It will also ship with Android 14 out of the box and support Wi-Fi 5 as well as 4G.
Additionally, the Galaxy A06 will be powered by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 15W charging. For reference, the A05 had a 6.7-inch 720p LCD display with a 50MP camera, an 8MP selfie shooter, a 5,000mAh battery, and 25W charging, so we might actually a downgrade in the charging speed.
