The Selangor state government has announced the introduction of BINGKAS Wallet, which is a new feature that is integrated into the Selangkah app. As the name implies, the new e-wallet feature was specifically made for the Bantuan Kehidupan Sejahtera Selangor (BINGKAS) programme.
The BINGKAS Wallet is for the disbursement and utilisation of funds from the programme, meaning that recipients can use it to make purchases at supermarkets, convenience stores, and the like. Before you can use it, you must first activate the Selangkah Wallet by inputting your MyKad or passport details and getting verified.
In case you are unfamiliar with it, BINGKAS is the state’s financial aid programme for low-earning households. It provides families with RM300/month for 24 months, but any remaining balance in the e-wallet each month will be forfeited and cannot be carried forward, so recipients will need to make sure they spend it all.
To qualify for the programme, your household needs to have at least two dependents under the age of 18. Furthermore, your household’s total income must not exceed RM5,000/month and be registered in Selangor. Finally, you must have either been born in Selangor or have lived in the state for at least 10 years.
