Alongside the new foldable devices that were launched during the weekend, Xiaomi also unveiled the Redmi K70 Ultra. This is a new high performance variant of the sub-brand’s K70 model which was introduced late last year.
The Redmi K70 Ultra features a sturdy metal frame with IP68 rating, and is the first smartphone from Xiaomi to feature its “Longjing” glass protection for both its display and rear panel. It has a 6.67-inch OLED display with a resolution of 2712×1220 pixels, a refresh rate of 144Hz, a typical brightness of 1,600 nits, and a peak brightness of 4,000 nits. The touch sampling rates are 480Hz and 2160Hz, with 3,840Hz PWM dimming.
Under its hood is a 4nm MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ processor, a discrete D1 graphics chip that’s built on a 12nm process, as well as up to a whopping 24 GB of RAM and up to 1TB internal storage. Also onboard is a 3D cooling chamber that’s claimed to lower the device temperature by 3-degrees, and a 5,500mAh battery with 120W fast charging support via USB-C.
Imaging-wise, found on the back of the K70 Ultra is a triple camera setup comprising a Sony IMX906 50MP primary, an 8MP ultra-wide, and a 2MP macro. Flipping over to the front, housed within the punch-hole cutout on the phone’s display is a 20MP selfie camera.
In China, the Redmi K70 Ultra starts from CNY2,599 (~RM1,674) and is available in Black, White, or Blue colourways. Additionally, there’s a special Lamborghini Champion Edition of the phone in either green or orange that’s only offered with 24GB RAM and 1TB storage, priced at CNY3,999 (~RM2,575). Xiaomi has not revealed any plans to release any versions of the K70 Ultra to other markets just yet.
