Xiaomi has officially launched its two latest foldable smartphones yesterday evening in China. These include its fourth generation book-styled model, the Mix Fold 4, along with its first ever clamshell-styled model, the Mix Flip.
Xiaomi’s Mix Fold 4 is remarkably thin and light, measuring 4.59mm when unfolded and 9.47mm when folded, while weighing at 226 grams.Its internal structure utilises T800H high-strength carbon fibre, enhancing impact resistance by 300% compared to the Mix Fold 3. This model is also the first Xiaomi foldable with an IPX8 rating, ensuring water resistance up to 1.5 meters for 30 minutes.
It boasts a 6.56-inch LTPO OLED cover display with FHD+ resolution, a 1-120 Hz adaptive refresh rate, and a 21:9 aspect ratio. Meanwhile, the phone’s main display is a 7.98-inch Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) panel, also with FHD+ resolution and a 1-120 Hz adaptive refresh rate. Both displays can achieve up to 3,000 nits peak brightness, and each has a 20MP front-facing camera.
Internally, the Mix Fold 4 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, paired with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. It runs on Xiaomi HyperOS based on Android 14, and features a 5,100mAh Xiaomi Surge battery with 67W wired and 50W wireless charging.
For photography, the phone’s exterior features a Leica quad camera with Summilux lenses. This consists of a 50MP main sensor with f/1.7 aperture and OIS, a 50MP 2x portrait sensor, a 10MP periscope with 5x optical zoom, and a 12MP ultrawide lens.
Next up, the all-new Xiaomi Mix Flip features a 4.01-inch cover screen, matching the Motorola Razr+ 2024 as the largest in its class. Dubbed the All Around Liquid outer display, it offers a 16:9 functioning area for running full apps or widgets. Unfolded, the Mix Flip reveals a 6.86-inch 120Hz OLED display with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.
It runs on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with up to 16GB of RAM, up to 1TB of storage, and includes a 3500mm² vapor chamber for efficient cooling. The device is also equipped with a 4,780mAh battery, nearly the largest in its segment, and supports 67W HyperCharge for rapid charging.
Imaging-wise, the Mix Flip’s cover screen houses a dual camera setup. This consists of a primary 50MP f/1.7 unit with 1.0µm binned pixels and 13.5 stops of dynamic range, and a 50MP f/2.0 telephoto camera with a 46mm focal length (2x zoom) and a floating lens for close focusing up to 9cm.
The new Xiaomi Mix Fold 4 starts at CNY8,999 (~RM5,802), available in black, white, and blue. On the other hand, the Mix Flip starts from CNY5,999 (~RM3,863) and is available in several colourways, including Black, White, Purple, and a special Nylon fibre edition. There’s no word on whether either model will be released outside of China at this time.
