Fans of the Samsung Galaxy Buds 3 Pro were supposed to take order of the brand’s latest TWS earbuds later this month, and while some media outlets had already received their review units, the greater majority were told that they’d receive their units at a later date. As for the why, it has something to do with the buds having seemingly delicate ear tips.
Multiple reports suggest that the ear tips on the Buds 3 Pro are quite fragile and are prone to being rendered unusable if one were to remove them incorrectly. It’s actually so bad that Reddit already has some subreddits discussing them, which you can find here and here. And if you think that wasn’t bad enough for the Korean electronics giant, there’s even a video of a Korean YouTuber experiencing this fragility in real-time.
While Samsung vehemently denies it took inspiration from Apple and its AirPods Pro, the design Buds 3 Pro leaves little to the imagination over the matter. The issue of the delicate ear tips also appears to be due to the Korean brand creating a mechanism similar to that of the fruit company. Specifically, they attach to the earbuds using a hard plastic ring that clips into the hollow, while the soft silicones look to be attached to the ring with an adhesive. Again, pull it wrong, and you rip the silicone off.
In Samsung’s defense, the brand did put out an animated instruction on its Korean page, showing folks how to safely and properly remove the ear tips on the Buds 3 Pro: flip the silicone inside out, grasp the entire thing, and pull it off parallel to the earbud. At the time of writing, the Korean giant hasn’t said anything about the issue.
