The global IT outage today, which is reportedly caused by a major CrowdStrike glitch, is also affecting services provided by airports across the globe, including Malaysia’s own Kuala Lumpur International Airport Terminal 2 (KLIA 2). Visitors and passengers alike have taken to social media to report on the numerous issues experienced.
From what’s shared on X (formerly Twitter), all passengers are currently required to check in manually, resulting in long queues at KLIA 2. According to Bernama, this is caused by an in-house AirAsia says system outage. But on the flip side, there have been no reported flight cancellations, though it is advisable that would-be flyers check in early while this persists.
Terkini!!!

We apologize for any inconvenience and will update you as soon as the issue is resolved. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

Meanwhile, Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) told Bernama that services at KLIA 1 are not affected by the global information technology (IT) outage. Similarly, it is understood that Malaysia Airlines is not affected by this either, though the same can’t be said for Firefly Airlines.
[UPDATE: 19 July 2024 | 5:20pm] MAHB has issued a public statement regarding the matter via its official X account. The local airport operator says its network remains unaffected by the global outage, but some of its airline partners are indeed experiencing disruptions.
