Nintendo has revealed a new first-party Joy-Con charging station for the Switch console. Considering that the Switch is now seven years old, we find it odd that it took the Japanese video game giant this long to finally announce one. Also not forgetting that a Switch 2 is rumoured to be released within the next year.
The new Nintendo Joy-Con controller charging station does exactly what you think it is designed for. Rather than attaching your Switch controllers to the hybrid console itself, you can now charge them separately with this new product.
It is also a two-way accessory, and draws power from the Switch’s USB-C port or from a separate power adapter. The charger’s vertical support hook can also be removed from its stand, making it easily portable and have it function similarly to the existing charging grip accessory but without, well, the grip.
Nintendo hasn’t revealed the pricing of it yet, but it will be available in the US starting from 17 October 2024, following more release dates within Europe and Japan. It’s also worth mentioning the third-party alternatives that are already available globally, where in Malaysia they range from as low as RM15 to as high as around RM150 on Shopee, depending on the brand.
