The Razer Kitsune leveless arcade controller was released back in September last year, and having reviewed it, it’s definitely something for fighting game enthusiasts. While it got two special edition versions featuring Cammy and Chun-Li in their Street Fighter 6 look, a third special edition is on its way, this time featuring Gouki / Akuma, also in his most recent iteration. Fitting, as he was the second most recent addition to the roster, at least at the time of writing.
Befitting his status within the Street Fighter canon though, this special edition is just a bit more special than the other two. The full name of this leverless controller is the Razer Kitsune Fighter’s Edition: Akuma, with the peripheral maker saying that only 1,000 will be available globally.
The aluminium plate on top of this version of the Razer Kitsune is also quite a bit more elaborate compared to the other two special editions. It comes complete with the kanji that, very roughly, translates to “the demon transforms into a god”, reflecting his motivation in the series.
But cosmetic bonuses aside, this version of the Razer Kitsune is functionally the same as the existing three variants. It comes with the same RGB strip on the side, the buttons are the same low-profile linear optical red switches, and it comes with the same PlayStation button layout. It also comes with a USB-C cable that can be locked to the controller to prevent disconnects, and disqualifications in tourneys.
Despite its very limited nature, the Razer Kitsune Fighter’s Edition: Akuma is priced the same as the Chun-Li and Cammy editions, at RM1,649. At the time of writing, it is listed as “out of stock”, but this is because it is scheduled to be launched later today at Evo Las Vegas.
