Carl Pei’s tech startup Nothing is on a roll. After launching two smartphones under its primary and CMF sub-brand this year, it is now gearing up to unveil yet another model. This time around is an all-new Plus variant of its Nothing Phone (2a) that launched earlier in May.
Apart from a vague teaser and a launch date reveal shared on X (formerly Twitter), Nothing didn’t detail much about the upcoming device. However, visible from the image provided appears to be something that resembles the wireless charging coils from the company’s first two smartphones, indicating that the Phone (2a) Plus may finally support this ability.

In case you’ve forgotten, the original Phone (2a) is marketed as Nothing’s mid-range model, offering a slightly lower specced 6.7-inch display, a Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, a watered-down version of the brand’s iconic Glyph lighting system, and no wireless charging support. Despite which, it still featured a dual 50MP camera setup, IP54 water and dust resistance, and a 5,000mAh battery with only 45W wired charging.
Considering that the upcoming release is a Plus variant of the same model, there’s a strong chance that it will feature a larger screen. If true, this would make it Nothing’s largest smartphone yet. Other than that, it could also feature slightly better hardware, such as larger memory and storage configurations, better camera or battery, and so on.
Whatever it may be, we’ll only find out more during the device’s full reveal. According to Nothing, the launch is slated to happen on 31 July 2024 at 5pm local time.
