Google Gemini’s new component, now having a generative AI chatbot, can now assist you even when your device is locked.
By pressing your home or power button, you can open Gemini and ask general questions or ask to do certain commands such as reading your unread messages, your emails, or even command it to make phone calls. Although, let’s say the device is unlocked, it can also prompt weather forecasts, schedule reminders, and navigate locations.
For it to respond to more complex questions, you will have to unlock your phone and type it out in the text bubble. Using Gemini from your device’s lock screen doesn’t necessarily open up new capabilities, but it does make accessing information nonchalantly more convenient, especially while driving.
Simply put, instead of unlocking your phone to search something up, you can now just do it hands-free using the voice commands. On that note, the feature will be on by default, but you can turn it off through your Settings app if needed.
