It is rumoured that the upcoming Intel Arrow Lake-S desktop lineup will ship out with a raised Maximum Temperature Junction (TJMax) of five degrees Celsius, making the threshold for performance up to 105°C.
Leakster Jaykihn alleged the change to Arrow Lake-S’ TJMaxx on their X, formerly Twitter. They also said that Lunar Lake’s TJMax will supposedly still hold fast at 100°C. For the uninitiated, the TJMax basically indicates the highest temperature a processor can reach before the system begins throttling its performance in order to prevent any permanent damage from the heat being generated. This action is usually translated as a dip in performance, be it in gaming or while running a CPU-intensive program, such as asset or image rendering.
Revised. Labeled a 6+4+0Xe as 6+8+0Xe earlier, which is not the case. pic.twitter.com/MvH3ealFdU

As an added bonus, Jaykihn also shared a chart containing numerous details on the Arrow Lake lineup. The Core Ultra 9 variant, specifically, will apparently feature eight P-Cores, 16 E-Core, and four Extreme E-Cores. The last bit is news to us and technically mimics that of Intel’s Meteor Lake layout, even if it is a generation behind.
Still, for what it’s worth, it’s a clear sign that Intel is officially saying goodbye to the old monolithic CPU design and riding headfirst into the new generation with its multi-tile technology, complete with the Foveros packaging.
