A man found his Apple Watch after a year and a half of it being lost at sea in the Caribbean. It was found using the ‘Find My’ application, allowing to pinpoint the general area of where it was in the ocean.
The man, Jared Brick, lost his watch while diving in the oceans during the summer of 2022 celebrating his son’s birthday. He bought two Apple Watch devices – one for his son and one for himself. Brick claimed that he scuba-dived twice a day during their trip and never took off his watch once. One day while returning from a dive, however, he realised the Watch wasn’t around his wrist anymore.
In December last year, someone called and said that they had found his Apple Watch using the app. They said that the device was still working and thanks to “Find My”, it showed a message with the owner’s phone number on it. The good samaritan then proceeded to send the Watch back to its owner, who then confirmed that it was indeed working.
The man even posted a video on the recovery process, which we’ve embedded here if you are interested.
