Four months into allowing retro game emulators to be sold on iOS, Apple seems to have had a change of heart with a retro PC emulator by allowing it on to the App Store. The emulator, known as UTM SE, is the first PC emulator that can be installed either on iOS or iPadOS.
To quickly recap, Apple announced back in April that it was opening the doors of the App Store to retro game emulators. That was a major change in its policy but one that was made after antitrust regulators from both the US and EU began bearing down on the company from Cupertino.
We are happy to announce that UTM SE is available (for free) on iOS and visionOS App Store (and coming soon to AltStore PAL)!
Shoutouts to AltStore team for their help and to Apple for reconsidering their policy.https://t.co/HAV5JnT5GO

As its name suggest, UTM SE allows users on the Apple iPhone or iPad to emulate older versions of Windows and macOS, in order to run older games that are otherwise out of reach for the mobile devices. As it is the case with emulators, you won’t be able to do much with the program out of the box; you download it blank, save for a link to UTM’s site that contains guides for Windows XP, all the way to Windows 11, along with downloads of pre-built virtual Linux machines.
