ShopeePay is now supported by the PlayStation Store. With this, users can utilise Shopee’s e-wallet service to purchase games via the platform on the web, PlayStation app, or the PlayStation 4/5 video game console.
Prior to this, payment methods were limited to only debit/credit card, Apple Pay, PlayStation Store Gift Card, or ‘Gift Card’ codes. Apart from purchasing games, this latest integration also allows users to subscribe to PlayStation Plus or renew it with the e-commerce platform’s e-wallet service.
To use this particular payment method, simply select ShopeePay on checkout, which will then require you to go through a verification process. According to Aksiz, if your wallet balance is insufficient, you’ll need to top up through Shopee first before proceeding with your purchase.
In case you’re wondering, SPayLater is not supported by the PlayStation Store. Additionally, as noted by PlayStation’s support page, you can only connect one ShopeePay account to a PlayStation account.
It should be noted that ShopeePay is the first local e-wallet service supported by PlayStation’s digital storefront. Hopefully, other platforms such as TnG eWallet, Boost and others will also follow suit in the near future.
