Open ear TWS products have been making a bit of a comeback in recent times, with more than just a handful of brands announcing their own. It looks like there will be another joining the local market soon, in the form of the Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo. The company has posted a teaser on its official Facebook page to that effect, but unfortunately, is otherwise pretty barren on the details front.
For what it’s worth, the post does direct readers to the official product ae for the Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo. If you’ve been keeping up with the personal audio market, many of the things here will look pretty familiar, especially the way it looks, and by extension, the way it is worn. At any rate, looking at the spec sheet, the duty of driving sound to your ears is done by a 17 x 12mm speaker, with support for LHDC codec and with HiRes Audio Wireless certification.
Preventing sound leakage here is what is described as “an independent 10mm sound leakage reduction driver”. Which is essentially ANC but for the outside of your ears. The language on the site is unclear, but it sounds like people around you may still be able to hear what you’re listening to if you if they’re within 25cm of you. While we’re on the subject, the Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo does sport ANC for outgoing calls. Battery life is rated at 7.5 hours on a single charge, and a total of 38.5 hours when the case is involved. There’s also an IP54 rating to round it all out.
As mentioned, the Facebook post doesn’t include a launch or availability date for the Xiaomi OpenWear Stereo, to say nothing of local pricing. All that is stated is a variant of the common “coming soon”, so waiting for another announcement is about all that can be done.
