Samsung has officially unveiled its latest lineup of smartwatches at tonight’s Unpacked event, comprising the Galaxy Watch7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra. The watches are packed with AI tools as well as a new sensor for improved health and fitness tracking.
Let’s start with the Galaxy Watch7, which sports a nearly identical design to its predecessor with an AMOLED display with sapphire crystal, coming in 40mm and 44mm size options. The wearable is equipped with the company’s enhanced BioActive Sensor that allows more accurate readings of your heart rate, electrocardiogram, blood pressure, advanced glycation end products, and more.
Additionally, the watch is equipped with an AI algorithm for sleep analysis and alerts for abnormally high or low heart rates. For workouts, the Galaxy Watch7 allows you to track over 100 routines and comes with dual-frequency GPS for accurate location tracking. For protection, it features 5ATM, IP68, and MIL-STD-810H ratings.
With Galaxy AI, the smartwatch offers suggested replies based on previous conversations to quickly respond to messages. There is also Double Pinch Gestures, similar to the one on the Apple Watch, which allows you to control the watch without touching it, although it will need to be paired with a Samsung smartphone.
Under the display, the watch runs on a 3nm Exynos W1000 chip paired with 2GB of RAM and double the storage at 32GB. The battery capacity for both sizes remain the same at 300mAh and 425mAh respectively.
Meanwhile, the Watch Ultra is the brand’s more durable option for those who are outdoor enthusiasts. The display is 1.5 inches in size, or 47mm, and it uses an AMOLED panel with sapphire crystal, with a peak brightness of 3,000 nits and an automatic Night Mode. There is even a new Quick Button that allows you to customise its function for workouts and activate the emergency siren.
Covering the watch is a rame made out of Titanium Grade 4 with an increased water resistance of 10ATM as well as IP68 and MIL-STD-810H ratings. Moreover, the firm claims that the Watch Ultra is able to operate anywhere from 500 metres below sea level to as high as 9,000 metres.
Of course, the Watch Ultra is similarly packing the BioActive Sensor along with built-in GPS. The tough smartwatch is rocking the same Exynos W1000 processor with a bigger 590mAh battery that can apparently last up to 100 hours in Power Saving mode.
Both the Galaxy Watch7 and the Galaxy Watch Ultra are open for pre-orders today and will be available starting 24 July 2024. The 40mm variant of the Watch7 starts from RM1,199 for the base model and RM1,499 for the cellular model, while the larger 44mm variant goes for RM1,299 for non-cellular and RM1,599 for cellular. As for the Watch Ultra, it retails for a whopping RM3,399.
