Nikon Malaysia, via its local distributor Futuromic Sdn Bhd, has officially revealed the pricing for the Nikon Z6 III in Malaysia. Available to order now via the brand’s authorised dealers such as YL Camera and Mylo Trading, the third generation full-frame camera starts from RM12,528 for just the body.
To recap its global announcement, the Nikon Z6 III maintains a familiar design but introduces significant enhancements in user experience. A standout feature is the new electronic viewfinder (EVF), which is the brand’s brightest, reaching up to 4,000 nits. It boasts a resolution of 5.76 million dots and an HDR-ready color gamut, making it 33% brighter than the one featured on the Nikon Z9. Additionally, the Z6 III has a vari-angle 3.2-inch rear LCD that can function as a front-facing display for selfies and video recording.
Central to the Z6 III’s innovation is a new “partially stacked” CMOS sensor with 24.5 megapixels. This sensor, the first of its kind in an interchangeable lens camera, offers many benefits of a fully stacked sensor, such as improved autofocus, reduced rolling shutter, smoother EVF experience, faster shooting speeds, and enhanced video modes at higher frame rates, but at a lower cost. Although it doesn’t match the Z8 and Z9 in resolution and sensor capabilities, it introduces features like FHD/240p video recording and a 3.5 times faster electronic shutter compared to the Z6 II.
For those requiring more than 24.5 megapixels, the Z6 III includes a pixel-shift shooting mode that creates 96-megapixel images using the in-body image stabilization system. This mode, processed with Nikon’s NX Studio software, delivers higher-quality 24-megapixel images with reduced noise and better color accuracy. The camera also features an improved vibration reduction system offering up to eight stops of shake correction and a new Focus Point VR feature that enhances stabilization at the active focus point.
The Z6 III boasts the highest native ISO range in the Nikon Z system, from 100 to 64,000, expandable to 50-204,800. It inherits advanced autofocus capabilities from its higher-end siblings, powered by AI and capable of subject detection across nine subjects, 3D Tracking, wide-area autofocus, and improved low-light performance down to -10 EV. Nikon claims the Z6 III’s autofocus is about 20% faster than the Z6 II’s, with better subject detection and tracking accuracy.
Positioned as a strong contender for sports, action, and wildlife photography, the Z6 III offers impressive autofocus performance and continuous shooting speeds. It has a mechanical shutter capable of up to 14 frames per second (RAW+JPEG with AF/AE) and an electronic shutter for up to 20 frames per second with RAW recording. The camera also includes C30, C60, and C120 modes for capturing full-resolution JPEGs with AF/AE tracking at 30, 60, and 120 fps, respectively. In video capabilities, the Z6 III records 12-bit 6K/60p N-RAW footage and 6K/30p ProRes RAW internally, supports 10-bit 5.4K ProRes 422 recording, and offers 4K/120p footage with a DX crop factor, making it a versatile tool for both photographers and videographers.
Apart from on its own, the new Z6 III is also offered in multiple configurations for your consideration. As mentioned earlier, the camera is priced at RM12,528 for body only, whereas bundling it with a 24-70mm, 24-120mm or 24-200mm lenses will cost you RM15,418, RM17,018 and RM16,378 respectively.
