We’ve recently discovered that the budget-friendly version of Samsung’s smartwatch, known as the Galaxy Watch FE, is now listed in SIRIM’s e-ComM database. This suggests that the wearable, which was officially announced by the company on 14 June, will be launched in Malaysia in the very near future.
It should also be noted that the support page for the Galaxy Watch FE has recently gone live on Samsung Malaysia’s website, further indicating its potential local release. However, the page itself is still merely a placeholder, with no relevant documents included just yet.
In case you missed it, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE is revealed to feature a design similar to last year’s Watch6, but sans the rotating bezel. It also only comes in a single 40mm size, though it does come in three colour variants.
Specs-wise, the budget-friendly model offers a 1.2-inch 396 x 396 Super AMOLED always-on display, an Exynos W920 chipset, 1.5GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage. Additionally, it comes with a 247mAh battery, Wear OS via One UI Watch 5.0, as well as IP68, 5ATM and MIL-STD-810H ratings.
For the US market, the Samsung Galaxy Watch FE is priced at US$200 (~RM943) for the Bluetooth-only configuration, and US$250 (~RM1,179) for the LTE version. The wearable’s local launch date is anyone’s guess for now, though there is a chance that it might arrive before, during, or after the brand’s summer Unpacked event that’s happening on 10 July 2024.
