Grab has expanded its Advance Booking feature to allow users to schedule all rides instead of just rides to the airport. However, the expansion also sees the e-hailing platform introducing a very expensive fee for using the feature.
The feature was reintroduced in Malaysia back in May after it was disabled last year, but users were only able to schedule rides to KLIA 1 and KLIA 2. Now, you can schedule rides to go from anywhere to anywhere in Klang Valley and Penang, with the exception of rides from airports. To do so, you just need to tap on the “Make an Advance Booking” button in the car section of the app.
According to its driver FAQ page, Advance Booking can be used for JustGrab as well as GrabCar Plus, 6-Seater, Premium, and Exec. Customers can schedule a ride up to 31 days ahead or a minimum of two hours in advance.
While the feature used to be free, Advance Booking now charges a scheduling fee that ranges from RM12 for JustGrab to RM18 for Premium rides. You can still cancel up to one hour before the ride and receive a full refund, but if you cancel within an hour before the scheduled pickup, you will still be charged the scheduling fee.
