Apple has officially announced the new and updated Beats Pill, a portable Bluetooth speaker that was first released over a decade ago. While it has a similar design to its predecessor, the 2024 model gets plenty of upgrades including a longer battery life, IP67 dust and water resistance, and a USB-C port.
To start with, the Pill is a mono speaker with a redesigned tweeter and woofer combo with a 20-degree upward as well as a battery life of up to 24 hours. For pairing, it works across both iOS and Android with the ability to do one-touch pairing, automatic pairing, and it even supports the Find My and Find My Device networks. It comes with Bluetooth 5.3 along with physical buttons for pairing, voice assistant, volume control, music controls, and call controls.
If you get two speakers, Amplify Mode allows you to sync to Pill speakers while Stereo Mode lets you split the audio for dedicated left/right output. Moreover, the USB-C port isn’t just for charging the speaker, it can also be used to charge your other devices using the speaker’s battery and it even supports line-in audio.
The new Beats Pill will retail for RM779 in black, red, and gold colour options. However, it is currently listed as unavailable on the Apple Malaysia website, so it seems we’ll have to wait for a bit before it can be purchased here.
