Shopee seems to have rebranded its Instant Delivery feature into Same Day Delivery, with some major pros and cons to this change. In case you’re not familiar with it, Instant Delivery was launched last December with a promise to deliver your order within two hours, but it’s now gone after just half a year.
With Same Day Delivery, the e-commerce platform is instead offering to deliver your orders within the same day. Unlike Instant Delivery, the new option gets a cut-off time of 2PM instead of 12PM. Any order made before 2PM will be delivered on the same day while orders made after that time or on weekends will only get delivered the next working day. This means that if you make a Same Day Delivery order at 3PM on a Friday, you won’t get the package until the following Monday.
Moreover, the service is currently limited to Klang Valley as well certain parts of Penang, Johor, Sabah, and Perak. For your order to be eligible, your address must be within 30KM of the seller and each package must not weigh more than 10KG, along with size limit of 30x30x30cm.
The company promises to provide a compensation voucher if your Same Day Delivery order was delivered late. As for how much it costs, the base rate has been lowered to RM5, but it has not specified the new rate per subsequent KM. For reference, Instant Delivery charged RM6 for the first 4KM and an additional RM1 for each subsequent KM.
