Home appliance brand Sharp has announced two new but very similar lines of Google TVs to the local market. These are the company’s Aquos XLED and Aquos TRU lines, with the former coming in two sizes while the latter gets three.
As mentioned, both the Sharp Aquos XLED and the Aquos TRU lines are very similar, and one of the first things you’ll them having in common with one another is a 120Hz refresh rate. Also as mentioned, both smart TVs run Google TV, so you get all the apps that it entails, including far-field microphone controls, allowing you to use use your voice as its remote control.
Also found on both spec sheets for the Sharp Aquos XLED and Aquos TRU is Dolby Vision IQ. In addition to providing more vibrand colours to HDR images, the new suffix means that these smart TVs will be able to adjust their brightness based on the light levels of the room it is in. On the sound department, both also feature Dolby Atmos tech.
Of course, there has to be something that differentiates the two series of smart TVs. For the Sharp Aquos TRU, this comes in the form of Deep Chroma Display, which the company’s display tech to bring out richer tones and colours. The pricier Aquos XLED takes this a step further with Deep Chroma QD, allowing it to have 20% more colour spectrum coverage. Also on the pricier model is what the company calls Xtreme Brightness, giving it up to 6x peak brightness.
Both the Sharp Aquos Tru and Aquos XLED are now available with the former being priced at RM3,599, RM4,499 and RM6,999 for the 55-, 65- and 75-inch models respectively. The latter starts at 65 inches, priced at RM6,999, while the 75-inch version costs RM9,499. Both are also part of a promotion that the brand is running until 31 July, giving purchases of these TVs a two-year warranty with a free one-to-one replacement when applicable.
