As many leaks as there have been for the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6, there have been just about as many for its supposed more affordable version. There have been many claims about this version of the phone, from it dropping S-Pen support, to the variant itself being dropped altogether. Relatively fresh out of the rumour mill this time is that it will be released in October, rather than alongside the main device of the family.
The claim comes from serial leakster Ice Universe on X, previously Twitter. Alongside the release window, the claim also supports a prior leak regarding the lack of S-Pen support, while also noting that the device will be thinner and lighter but larger than the base model Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6. On that note, this variant may also be referred to as the Slim. And finally, the claim mentions that the device will be called the W25 in China.
Not mentioned in the primary post, but as a reply instead, the leakster also claims that this Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 Slim is not the rumoured FE model, as it will still sport a titanium frame. On that note, while the social media post itself doesn’t specifically mention if this will indeed be a device that’s exclusive to the Chinese market, a separate reply hints at it probably being the case. At this point in time it could go either way, with the Slim name being used outside of the mainland.
With a new name and a release window, it’s probably safe to say that this version of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 is not getting canned, contrary to the report by The Elec. Of course, if it does end up being a China exclusive, then it may as well be cancelled elsewhere. But as before, we won’t know for sure until after the fact.
