Samsung could do with plugging a few holes as the last few days have seen numerous leaks what appears to be specs and images of its upcoming foldable smartphones and smartwatch. The highlight of which is that OnLeaks and Smartprix released what they claim to be the actual specs of the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6, months after leaking alleged renders of the two foldables.
Let’s start with the Galaxy Z Fold6, which will have a lighter and thinner body with a wider aspect ratio leading to a slightly bigger outer screen. It will apparently still sport a 7.6-inch AMOLED inner display but the outer screen will get a 6.3-inch AMOLED panel, with both running at 120Hz.
Despite the chipset not being specifically named, it is speculated that the phone will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor paired with 12GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. As for the battery, it will remain at the same 4,400mAh capacity with no charging speed stated. The cameras are expected to have an identical setup to its predecessor including a 50MP main sensor, a 12MP ultra-wide, a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, a 10MP selfie camera on the external display, and a 4MP under-display camera for the inner screen.
As for the Galaxy Z Flip6, it will come with the same displays and body dimensions, but with an upgraded imaging setup and chipset. The phone will have the same 6.7-inch AMOLED display when unfolded as well as a 3.4-inch AMOLED cover screen on the outside, with a 120Hz refresh rate for both panels.
Similar to the Fold, it will run on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 with an unspecified amount of RAM and up to 512GB of storage. The battery seems to have gotten nominally larger at 4,000mAh with support for the same 25W charging. For photography, the clamshell phone will feature a 50MP main camera alongside a 12MP ultra-wide lens and a 10MP selfie snapper.
Last but not least, leakster Ice Universe posted what are apparently renders of the upcoming Galaxy Watch Ultra, coming in two colour options with an orange colour accent on the digital crown. If it is to be believed, then the watch will be offered in a rectangular chassis with a round watch face.
The report by Smartprix claims that both foldables will go up in price by US$100 (~RM471), so we can expect higher price tags in the Malaysian market as well. As for when we will see these devices, Samsung will be holding a second 2024 Unpacked event in Paris on 10 July 2024, where it will likely launch its new foldables and wearables.
