HONOR has just unveiled its first ever clamshell flip phone in China, the Magic V Flip. It’s also the brand’s fourth foldable overall, following the Magic V, Magic Vs, and Magic V2. It contains what it claims to be the largest secondary screen in this form factor, which utilises the dual camera rings for notifications.
The Magic V Flip sports a 6.8-inch inner display with a 1.5K resolution, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, although that’s likely only for HDR content. The headline of the phone is, of course, the 4-inch outer display that takes up the entire upper half of the foldable. It’s an LTPO OLED display which has a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,600 nits.
Under the hood, it runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Plus gen 1 chipset coupled with 12GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. Powering it is a 4,800mAh battery with support for 66W charging. On the photography side, it features a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide lens, and a 50MP selfie snapper housed in the inner screen.
The Magic V Flip comes in three colour options as well as a limited edition Jimmy Choo version. It retails for a starting price of CNY4,999 (~RM3,245) in China for the base trim. The brand has yet to confirm whether or not it plans on launching the foldable phone internationally.
