Samsung could potentially launch a budget-friendly model of its Galaxy Watch next month during its second Unpacked event of the year. According to a Bluetooth SIG listing that was first spotted by MySmartPrice, the upcoming wearable will be known as – you guessed it – the Galaxy Watch FE. What’s more, a massive leak of the smartwatch has recently surfaced online which not only allegedly revealed its design, but also its key specifications.
Images of the device, which may have been sourced from Italian e-commerce site SME Online, suggests a design that closely resembles Galaxy Watch6. Like last year’s model, the FE also sports a circular body with two buttons on the right, as well as quick release straps. One noticeable difference is the smaller display and thicker surrounding bezels.
Specifications-wise, MySmartPrice contributor Sudhanshu Ambhore and leakster Arsene Lupin claim that the Watch FE is offered in a single 40mm size, featuring a 1.2-inch Super AMOLED screen with 396 x 396 pixel resolution. It will also supposedly come with IP68 rating and MIL-STD-810H certification.
Under the hood of the Samsung budget-friendly smartwatch is an Exynos W9220 chipset, along with 1.5GB of RAM and 16GB of storage. It will also run on Wear OS via One UI Watch 5.0, and comes with a slew of built-in health as well as sports tracking sensors.
Pricing for the Galaxy Watch FE is alleged to be at EUR199 (~RM1,016), while SME Online lists it to be EUR219 (~RM1,118). The latter also revealed that the wearable will come in three colour options: black, blue, and pink.
As usual, do take the leaked information with a healthy dose of salt since we’ll only know for sure whether they’re actually accurate once Samsung officially announces the Watch FE. For that, we’ll have to wait until sometime next month.
