Samsung has unveiled its 2024 lineup of monitors, featuring the latest Odyssey OLED, Smart Monitor, and ViewFinity models. These are promised to bring enhanced user experiences through the brand’s innovative features and cutting-edge technology.
To start things off, we have the Odyssey OLED G8, which stands out as the first 32-inch flat Samsung OLED gaming monitor, boasting 4K UHD resolution, a 240Hz refresh rate, and a rapid 0.03ms grey-to-grey (GtG) response time. Meanwhile, the 27-inch Odyssey OLED G6 offers QHD resolution, the same fast response time as its sibling, but with a faster refresh rate of 360Hz. Both models are powered by the NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, the same one found in Samsung’s 2024 8K TVs, allowing for content upscaling to nearly 4K quality.
The G8 and G6 also feature the brand’s OLED Safeguard+, a proprietary burn-in prevention technology that utilises a pulsating heat pipe and a dynamic cooling system to effectively manage heat and protect the display. Additionally, these monitors come equipped with FreeSync Premium Pro to eliminate choppiness and screen tearing, and Samsung’s OLED Glare Free technology, which maintains color accuracy and reduces reflections for a better viewing experience.
Design-wise, the Odyssey OLED monitors sport a super slim metal frame and include Core Lighting+ for ambient lighting that synchronises with on-screen action. Their respective stands offer adjustable height, tilt and swivel support, ensuring an ergonomic experience.
Next up, we have the updated Smart Monitor lineup, featuring the M8 (M80D), M7 (M70D) and M5 (M50D), which blends entertainment and productivity into a seamless multi-device experience. The 32-inch 4K UHD Smart Monitor M8 is enhanced with AI capabilities, including AI upscaling for better picture quality and Active Voice Amplifier Pro, which optimises dialogue by analysing background noise. This model also includes 360 Audio Mode for immersive sound and a built-in SlimFit Camera for easy video calls via Samsung Dex.
Meanwhile, the M7 is available in 32-inch and 43-inch sizes with 4K UHD resolution, whereas the M5 comes in 27” and 32” sizes with FHD resolution, catering to a variety of user needs. A notable addition across the Smart Monitor range is the Workout Tracker, which pairs with a Galaxy Watch to display real-time health data on the screen, even while streaming content.
For creatives and professionals, we have the Samsung ViewFinity lineup, which is optimised for productivity and sustainability. The ViewFinity S8 offers 27-inch and 32-inch options with 4K UHD resolution, a USB hub for connectivity, and a height-adjustable stand. It also includes a KVM switch for easy switching between two input devices and a USB-C port capable of charging devices with up to 90W of power.
On the other hand, the ViewFinity S7 is available in 27-inch and 32-inch sizes with 4K UHD resolution, while the ViewFinity S6 offers 24-inch, 27-inch, and 32-inch options with QHD resolution and a 100Hz refresh rate. These monitors support HDR10, display 1 billion colours, and integrate TÜV-Rheinland-certified Intelligent Eye Care features to reduce eye strain during prolonged use. All three also come with an Easy Setup Stand, which allows for quick and tool-free assembly.
Pre-orders for the new Odyssey OLED, Smart Monitor, and ViewFinity models are now available via Samsung’s official website until 16 June 2024 – all at reduced prices as part of a special promo. That said, the Odyssey OLED G8 and G6 are priced at RM5,399 and RM3,999 respectively, the Smart Monitor M8, M7 and M5 at RM2,888, RM1,588 and RM1,138 respectively, and the ViewFinity S7 32-inch and 27-inch at RM1,499 and RM1,249 respectively.
