[UPDATE: 6 June 2024 – 4:10pm] A CelcomDigi spokesperson has responded to our queries via email, clarifying that customers under its 800Mbps fibre plan are able to upgrade to the 1Gbps subscription at no charge by walking in to any nearby Celcom Blue Cube or Digi Store. In addition, they’ll also get the Premium WiFi 6 router for free.
As for existing 1Gbps customers, the spokesperson said the RM249/month repricing has already been automatically reflected in their monthly bills since 1 May 2024. Meanwhile, the telco also wishes to point out an error on its website, which listed the plan’s upload speed as 200Mbps. It clarified that the correct figure is actually 500Mbps.
[UPDATE: 5 June 2024 – 9:15pm] The CelcomDigi customer service centre which we’ve visited earlier has now informed us that existing 1Gbps fibre users are still charged RM289 per month for now. These customers will be notified via SMS if there are any changes to their monthly bill, they added.

CelcomDigi appears to have revised the pricing for its 1Gbps fibre plan. First discovered by local tech site Amanz, the subscription in question is now available for RM249 per month, which is RM40 less than initially offered.
As before, new and existing users will get to enjoy download and upload speeds of up to 1Gbps and 500Mbps, respectively. The plan also comes with an included Premium WiFi 6 router with mesh, while newer users get free standard installation.
The price revision comes with another significant change, however. As of now, CelcomDigi no longer lists its 800Mbps option in its list of fibre plans. Before this, this particular subscription was offered at RM249, which is now the same price as the revised 1Gbps plan.
Responding to our queries, a representative at the CelcomDigi customer service centre in The Gardens Mall informed us that the pricing for existing 800Mbps customers will remain unchanged, and there are no plans to provide them with an automatic upgrade to the faster subscription – for now, at least. However, they are given the option to upgrade to the 1Gbps line at no additional cost if they so wish, but there is a catch.
According to the representative, choosing to port over to the faster plan will still require customers to own the Premium WiFi 6 router in order to fully utilise the 1Gbps connection. Unfortunately, they are unable to confirm whether CelcomDigi will charge for the router upgrade.
We’ve reached out to telco directly to get more information. We’ll keep you posted once we’ve received any new details.
