Sony has today officially launched its new ULT Power Sound audio line-up in Malaysia, which consists of the ULT Field 1 and 7 wireless speakers, and the larger ULT Tower 10 portable wireless speaker. As you may recall, all of which were announced alongside the ULT Wear headphones, which was the first from the series to arrive locally in April.
According to the company, all newly launched models are designed to “make you feel like you have dived into the front row of the arena”, offering “powerful deep sound”. One feature that’s commonly shared across all devices (the ULT Wear included) is the ULT button, which lets you switch between two sound modes that provides either “deep low-frequency bass”, or “powerful and groovy bass”.
Starting things off, we have the Sony ULT Field 1. It is a cylindrical portable speaker which comes in an IP67-rated shell. Interestingly, Sony notes that the device is salt-water resistant, which is rare among IP-rated devices, though we wouldn’t really recommend putting that claim to the test. Battery life is rated at 12 hours, connectivity is handled by Bluetooth 5.3, and there’s a strap belt attached for easier transporting.
Next up is the ULT Field 7, which is technically a step up over the Field 1 in terms of size, coming in at 512 x x224 x 222 mm and weighing at 6.3kg. It also comes with the same IP67 rating and salt water resistance, as well as a 30-hour playback time. Making up for its size somewhat is its multipurpose nature, as it can also be linked to up to 100 compatible speakers via Party Connect to sync music and lighting, and could even function as an electric guitar amp or even a makeshift karaoke setup.
And finally, there’s the Sony ULT Tower 10. As you can tell by its name alone, this model is the largest of the lot, measuring at 418 x 1,106 x 428mm and weighing 29kg. It does give up its IP67 rating, but on the flip side it does everything else that the Field 7 does, but better. Exclusive to the Tower 10 is the 360-degree Party Sound feature, which amplifies sound to every corner of the room; and the 360-degree Party Light feature, which livens the atmosphere with lightning effects that are synchronised with the music played.
The Sony ULT Power Sound speakers are slated to retail in Malaysia this month, with pre-orders now available via the brand’s official website until 3 June 2024. The ULT Field 1, Field 7 and Tower 10 are priced at RM629, RM2,099 and RM4,999, respectively.
