inDrive today has announced a collaboration with local car rental company Flyt. According to the former, this newly established partnership aims to provide flexible car rental services for drivers who do not own cars, in addition to streamlining the registration process for acquiring a Public Service Vehicle (PSV) licence.
For the uninitiated, Flyt was founded in 2016, providing transportation solutions to accommodate job seekers doing e-hailing for their daily income. It has been operating in Penang and Klang Valley since 2019, with aims to expand in Johor Bahru next year.
“By partnering with Flyt, we aim to address the market need for flexible transportation solutions, making it easier for our drivers to obtain their PSV licences and access car rentals,” inDrive business development representative Govin Kumaar said in a statement issued to the press. “This partnership not only encourages greater compliance with regulations, but also helps us increase driver acquisitions, ensuring more passengers benefit from our service.”
Flyt finance director Long Seh Yung expressed similar enthusiasm for the newly inked deal. As the key collaborator, Flyt will be designated as the car rental provider for new inDrive applicants that require the service, offering a wide range of transportation options from sedans and MPV to premium highline models, subject to availability. The rental prices will vary depending on the amount of rides completed by the driver.
inDrive adds that applicants will also be able to benefit from its partner’s unique Rent2Own scheme, which allows drivers to own cars without financial commitments through a flexible agreement by subscribing to a minimum of 3-month rental period. This scheme is touted to be especially beneficial for gig economy workers within low to middle income groups.
