Nothing today has unveiled the Phone (2a) Special Edition, which features an updated and more colourful look. Notably, this is the first time that the company has put three primary colours – red, blue, and yellow – onto the same device, though a majority of it is still taken up by white and grey.
If Google was the first thing you thought of after seeing the Phone (2a) Special Edition, fret not, as this writer saw this too. However, the only colour missing from the big tech company’s palette is green, so there goes that potential collaboration. Nevertheless, this limited edition variant does look striking in a retro-inspired way.
And yes, you read that right. Nothing is offering a limited number of the Phone (2a) Special Edition across the globe, with only 100 units allocated for the local market. Come 7 June 2024 at 12am, the phone will be available exclusively via Crossover’s online store for RM1,699 – the same price as the original release, surprisingly.
Just in case you need it, here’s a quick recap of the phone’s specs. Starting with its display, the Nothing Phone (2a) boasts a 6.7-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2412 x 1084 pixels, an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz, a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, and a peak brightness of 1300nits. It is IP54 rated for water and dust resistance, and includes dual stereo speakers, two high-definition microphones, as well as dual SIM support. The phone also features a simplified version of the brand’s signature Glyph Interface.
Under its hood is a 5G-enabled Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset, and it should be noted that the Special Edition also comes with the same 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration as the original. Meanwhile, powering the phone is a 5,000mAh battery that supports 45W fast charging, whereas connectivity options include dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC.
For photography, the Nothing Phone (2a) features dual 50MP sensors on the back, with the primary camera offering electronic image stabilisation and autofocus, while the ultra-wide camera has a 144-degree field of view. The front-facing camera, housed in a punch-hole cutout on the display, comes with a 32MP sensor.
