Samsung has an upcoming flagship model of its Galaxy Watch, and the rumour mills have been going at each other to establish a name for it. The initial leaks of its render called it the Galaxy Watch7 Ultra, while another report claims that it’s actually the Galaxy Watch X. As it turns out, the truth may be somewhere in the middle, with the name Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra having surfaced recently.
This comes from the UAE’s Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA). MySmartPrice reports that the agency has also listed the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra with a model number of SM-L705F, as well as GSM modules, meaning it will have mobile data connectivity. Which, for a premium smartwatch, is something buyers may have already come to expect.
The report also mentions the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra having appeared in the US FCC, but without the aforementioned marketing name. In this, the wearable is noted as supporting 10W charging, while the Galaxy Watch7 series will instead support 15W charging. It’s a tad odd that model that’s likely to be pricier having a lower charging rate, but it’s not completely unheard off.
At any rate, the name of the Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra is more or less set in stone, unless the South Korean tech giant has given its smartwatch different names for different markets. Either way, we’ll find out come Unpacked in July. As for whether that will be on 10 or 24, the company will say something definitive next month.
