While not much has been said about the next generation of smartwatches by Samsung, it has been said that the company will be revealing them during the upcoming Unpacked event. Which is a bit ironic considering that it will be quite packed with announcements. At any rate, the most recent product of the rumour mill is one Samsung Galaxy Watch7 Ultra, with renders having made their way online.
These come from serial leakster @OnLeaks, and shared to Smartprix. And immediately, one difference is clear between the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 Ultra and the ones that have come before. While the screen itself is still circular, the frame around it is adopting a more squared shape. It’s unclear if the rotating bezels are making a return or if the look is just for show. But if they are, one can imagine it not gelling with the square frame all that much.
On the flip side, the buttons flanking the crown on the Samsung Galaxy Watch7 Ultra may be easier to press. That is, if it is indeed a crown rather than just a button, as this one is not present in prior models of the smartwatch. The report also claims that the Watch7 Ultra will measure about 47 x 47.4 x 16.4 mm, slightly larger than its predecessor owing to the square frame. Also claimed in the report are larger speaker grilles.
As mentioned earlier, an unveiling for a smartwatch is expected during Unpacked, but it remains to be seen if this Samsung Galaxy Watch7 Ultra is the one to get on stage. It’s also slightly amusing that the presumably premium model of this year’s batch of smartwatches is dubbed the Ultra and given a more squarish frame, as if aping a similarly named wearable by Apple.
