Infinix introduced the Smart 8 smartphone for the Malaysian market during the weekend. It is an entry-level device and is the brand‘s most affordable one yet, making it suitable for first-time users and students alike.
The new Infinix Smart 8 sports a 6.6-inch LCD screen with 720 x 1612 px resolution, a refresh rate of 90Hz, and a peak brightness of 500nits. Also onboard is a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, loudspeaker, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a USB-C port for charging and data transfer.
Powering the phone is a Unisoc T606 chipset, along with 3GB of RAM (with up to 3GB additional via virtual memory expansion) and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded up to 2TB through microSD. Additionally, it comes with Android 13 via the brand’s XOS13 platform, and a 5,000mAh battery with 10W charging. Unfortunately, cellular connectivity is limited up to 4G and there’s no support for NFC.
Imaging-wise, despite featuring an iPhone Pro-like camera arrangement on its back, the Smart 8 only features a dual camera setup. This consists of a 13MP primary camera, a 0.08MP auxiliary lens, and an LED flash. In front, housed within the punch-hole cutout on the phone’s display (which features the Dynamic Island-like Magic Ring function, by the way) is a 13MP selfie camera.
The Smart 8 is priced at only RM299, and is set to be available for purchase in Malaysia tomorrow on 28 May 2024 through Infinix’s official stores on Shopee, Lazada and TikTok, as well as authorised distributors nationwide. In terms of colour options, the new phone will be available in Timber Black, Galaxy White, Crystal Green, and Shiny Gold.
