During an interview with Bloomberg, Jen-Hsun Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, and Michael Dell, CEO of Dell, alluded to the possibility that both companies were working together to create their own version of AI chips. The goal, then, is for both entities to compete with what is currently the fastest growing market in the tech world.
It’s a very quick quip, with Dell briefly acknowledging the reporter’s question on both NVIDIA and Dell’s place in the AI PC world. “Come back next year,” Dell says. Just scroll directly to the 18-minute mark and watch it from there. Again, it’s really quick.
Technically speaking, NVIDIA already has a hand in the AI PC realm. Its GPUs across the board are highly sought after, thanks in no small part to the Tensor cores and their innate ability to perform complex computations with different AI language models. It’s also a clear sign that it prefers raw GPU power over NPUs.
Over on the gaming front, the GPU maker has been the subject of multiple rumours, the most recent being that it had supposedly partnered up with MediaTek, to develop its own ARM-based AI processor for PCs, while also allegedly expressing discontent for not being a major player in the gaming handheld market.
