With the Xperia 1 VI and 10 VI out of the way, the rumour mill has grinding away at the next possible phone in the Sony pipeline. This time the subject is one Sony Xperia Pro-C, which is ostensibly both a sequel to the Pro-I, and another addition to the long list of compact flagships, many of which have not come to pass.
These details from the supposed Sony Xperia Pro-C come from leakster @INSIDERSONY on X, previously Twitter, and in surprising detail. And on the very top of the list is a 6-inch 2K 120Hz OLED screen with an anti-reflection coating of some sort, which suggests the compact form factor, by today’s standards at least. Other details include a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, a 5,000mAh battery with 45W charging, and a “base” memory and storage configuration of 12GB + 256GB.

Then there are the bits on the camera of the rumoured Sony Xperia Pro-C, arguably the more important bits of the spec sheet. Three of them are listed, so while it’s likely that this represents a triple camera setup at the back, it shouldn’t be too surprising if one of these end up being in front of the phone.
At any rate, the first camera the Sony Xperia Pro-C camera is claimed to be equipped with is a 50MP 1-inch 20mm f/1.8 with OIS and support for 12-bit RAW and 14-bit DCG RAW shooting. Though surprisingly, the leakster claims that it’s possible that the company won’t be using its own sensors, opting for one by OmniVision instead. The remaining two are 12MP shooters, with the former specifically capable of 4K 120fps shooting, No mention of telephoto zoom or wide-angle lenses though.
As one of the vocal minority keeping my fingers crossed for a compact flagship, the Sony Xperia Pro-C sounds a little too good to be true, even if details are far from confirmed. There have been a fair number of previous rumours of a Compact Sony flagship, only for them to end up either being a budget device – exclusive to its home market at that – or not happening at all. The most recent claim before this one was that the next compact would be a clamshell foldable even, and one without a secondary display.
All that is to say that this rumour should be taken with a pinch of salt. Or more if you’re a diehard holdout of compact flagship phones.
