As initially promised, Samsung has rolled out Galaxy AI features to its older devices in Malaysia. Previously exclusive to the Galaxy S24 series and later to select devices released last year, the brand’s first-party AI system can now be enjoyed by users on the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Flip4, Z Fold4, as well as the Tab S8 series by downloading the latest One UI 6.1 firmware update.
Most of the Galaxy AI features that were first introduced on this year’s Galaxy S24 will be ported over to Samsung’s 2022 product line-up mentioned above. To be more specific, these include Chat Assist, Note Assist, Transcript Assist, Browsing Assist, Photo Assist, and Google’s Circle To Search function. The Live Translate feature, unfortunately, is not available for the Galaxy Tab S8 series.
In case you didn’t get the notification, you can manually download One UI 6.1 by heading over to Settings and then select “Software Update”. From there, tap on “Download and Install”, and then follow the on-screen instructions to receive the firmware update on your device.
As for those on the Galaxy S21 series as well as the Galaxy Z Flip3 and Z Fold3, it appears that you may have to wait a while longer for the Galaxy AI rollout. There’s no word on when the relevant firmware update will be released just yet, though keep in mind that all three aforementioned devices will only receive two features from the first-party AI system: Magic Rewrite, and Circle to Search.
