Samsung has officially launched its 2024 Neo QLED and OLED premium smart TV line-up for the local market. All models unveiled today initially made their debut for the global market in late March this year, featuring new hardware and AI-powered functions which promises enhanced viewing experiences in more ways than one.
To recap, the new Neo QLED 8K TVs are made up of the QN900D and the QN800D series, which are available in 75- and 85-inch sizes. The former is powered by Samsung’s latest and most advanced NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, while the latter comes with the NQ8 AI Gen2 chip. While all TVs under either series support a maximum resolution of 8K (7680 x 4320 pixels), only the QN900D models come with 240Hz refresh rates, while the QN800D supports 120Hz instead.
Among the new AI features offered by the QN900D and QN800D is AI Upscaling, which is capable of upscaling resolutions as low as SD (480p) to 8K in real-time. There’s also the AI Motion Enhancer feature that eliminates ghosting from fast moving objects, Real Depth Enhancer which adds lifelike yet immersive depth to visuals, and AI Auto Game Mode that automatically detects the type of games you play and optimises visual output accordingly.
Audio-wise, the Dolby Atmos sound system on both models also comes with AI-powered features, such as Active Amplifier which allows certain sounds to be enhanced for a clearer and deeper audio experience. Further enhancing the experience is Object Tracking Sound and Adaptive Sound features that can create more natural-sounding audio that matches the current content.
