Countless people on social media are currently reporting that they are unable to use DuitNow banking services. This was confirmed by at least two banks, indicating a system-wide downtime by the PayNet-run platform.
CIMB stated on X that it was informed by its payment switch provider that instant transfers through DuitNow is “experiencing intermittent service availability”. Similarly, Maybank has confirmed that the service interruption has affected both its Maybank2u website and MAE mobile app, stating that it is due to a network issue reported by PayNet.
GXBank has also put out a notice on its app that all DuitNow services may be interrupted from 4PM onward. While other banking and financial platforms have yet to confirm the issue, some users on X have said that they are experiencing the same problem with BigPay, Bank Islam, and Touch n’ Go eWallet.
During our own testing, we were able to perform DuitNow transfers to other accounts using the same bank, but were unable to do interbank transfers using the service. As of writing, it is unknown how long the interruptions will last, but we will update this article once we know more.
[UPDATE: 5:50 PM, 8 May 2024] GXBank has confirmed that DuitNow services have been restored.
[UPDATE: 6:01 PM, 8 May 2024] CIMB and Maybank have also started informing customers that DuitNow services have been restored.
