Samsung has recently unveiled its latest entry-level S85D OLED TV line-up in the US, which is available in 55-, 65- and 77-inch sizes. The series is touted to offer many of the same features as the brand’s premium models, save for a lower supported refresh rate.
All TVs under the Samsung S85D series offer 4K 120Hz OLED panels, and are equipped with the brand’s NQ4 AI Gen2 processor. Features include 4K AI Upscaling capabilities, Motion Xcelerator technology, Real Depth Enhancer, Pantone Validated Colors, and Dolby Atmos support.
In terms of I/O, onboard are four HDMI ports, two USB-A, an ethernet port, a digital audio out and a mini jack, whereas wireless connectivity support includes Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.2. Other than that, the S85D series comes with Samsung TV Plus and Samsung Gaming Hub.
Alongside the entry-level TVs, Samsung also introduced additional sizes for its existing S90D series. These include a 42-, 48- and an 83-inch sizes, where all of which retain the 144Hz OLED panel, NQ4 AI Gen2 processor, and other features from the line-up’s initial releases.
Unlike the S85D, the S90D features the brand’s Motion Xcelerator Turbo+ technology to minimise lag and motion blur while gaming. It also supports OLED HDR+ for extra brightness and contrast.
The new Samsung S85D starts at US$1,700 (~RM8,055) for the 55-inch variant, US$2,100 (~RM9,950) for the 65-inch, and US$3,400 (~RM16,111) for the larger 77-inch model. Meanwhile, the new S90D options starts at US$1,400 (~RM6,634) for the 42-inch, US$1,600 (~RM7,581) for the 48-inch, and US$5,400 (~RM25,589) for the 83-inch. There’s no word on whether either series are planned to be released in Malaysia just yet.
