The launch of NVIDIA’s GeForce RTX 50 Series is just over the horizon, with the company expected to announce by the end of this year. And just like the GPU brand launched RTX 3080 back in 2020, it is believed that the RTX 5080 will be the first Blackwell GPU to hit the market first.
The rumour stems from a reputable and reliable leakster, kopite7kime, (@kopite7kime), who chimed in on TPU’s post on X, formerly Twitter, when the tech-based site claimed that NVIDIA would launch only the RTX 5090 first, and not the RTX 5080.
It's not ture. RTX 5080 should be released first.

Of course, the banter between kopite and TPU isn’t and shouldn’t be treated as confirmation of NVIDIA’s plans for its RTX 50 Series. As it stands, the GPU brand has not made any official comments and given its boilerplate stance on not commenting on unfinished and unreleased products, we’ll probably only be hearing more about the RTX 5080 as we edge closer to the launch window.
As always, there are still no official specs of the RTX 5080 but as per the rumour mill, the card is expected to be based around a GB203 GPU, and have up to 12,288 CUDA core. That’s less than what the current RTX 4090 offers but definitely more than the RTX 4080.
