Apple has its Let Loose event scheduled for later tonight, with a primary focus on its Apple Pencil, and by extension, the much rumoured refreshes for the iPad Air and Pro. While there hasn’t been any indication as to what it will be called yet, one instance suggests that it may be called the Apple Pencil Pro.
A user of X, previously Twitter, with the handle @ribu_ap712 has shared a screenshot of the source code for the bitten fruit brand’s Japanese site, which mentions an Apple Pencil Pro. Going to the source code, you’ll see it mentioned a couple of times in the same line describing the stylus in use like you would for the alt text of an image.
Here’s the line of code in question, post machine-translation:
Folded green, yellow, orange, and blue paper forms the Apple logo. Inside the logo, you can see the creator’s hand holding an Apple Pencil Pro and trying to draw. From the tip of the Apple Pencil Pro pressed against the bottom of the logo, splashes of orange and pink burst out, creating a wave pattern upwards. As the creator rotates the Apple Pencil Pro between his thumb and forefinger, pink, orange, and white droplets swirl after it, causing the paper to flutter silently as it moves
That being said though, it looks to a mention that shows up only on the Japanese site. MacRumors and The Verge report that the Apple Pencil Pro name doesn’t show up in any other market’s home page – it certainly didn’t show up in the company’s Malaysian page, at least at the time of writing. With that in mind, this could may be a translation error.
Whatever the new Apple Pencil may be called, rumours currently point to a number of features from interchangeable magnetic tips to support for a squeeze gesture. We’ll find out for sure if any of these rumours are accurate, as well as the claims of an M4 chip for the new tablets.
