Plans for a pair of Sonos wireless headphones were first revealed in September of 2020 via a patent filing, followed by a Bloomberg in November last year. More recently, we may actually have an image of the headphones, which made its way online via a relatively official source.
The Verge reports that the headphones in question will be called the Sonos Ace, as named in a prematurely published listing by the brand’s official parts dealer Schuurman. At the time of writing, it looks like said listing has been scrubbed, but not before the outlet shared images of what the headphones look like. From these, a few buttons are visible on both ear cups, and a toggle switch in one. It also looks like included cables in the package include a USB-C to USB-C, and a USB-C to 3.5mm.
Also mentioned in the report was a listed price of EUR403.58 (~RM2,060), which falls within the price range predicted by the aforementioned November Bloomberg report. Another listing that was scrubbed was replacement ear cushions for the Sonos Ace, which also mentions the Duke codename, which was also previously mentioned. These point to the Sonos Ace being quite real, and that’s not counting u/Rogueoner29 posting on Reddit a mention of the product by name when searching from the brand’s page in a search bar.
At this point though, it’s worth pointing out a couple of things. One is that the Bloomberg report mentioned an April release window, which has clearly not happened. Another is that there was also a Sonos Roam 2 being listed in the Schuurman website, which has also been scrubbed. Reports back in March pointed at a June release window, which may be when we see the Sonos Ace being released as well.
