Apple-owned Beats has recently unveiled its latest offerings in the audio market. These consist of the Solo 4 headphones and the Solo Buds, which are already listed in Apple Malaysia’s official website.
First off we have the Beats Solo 4, which boasts an ultralight design that weighs in at only 217g. It also sports UltraPlush cushions, a flex-grip headband, customisable sliders, a USB-C port that supports both audio delivery and charging, as well as a 3.5 mm analog input for wired playback. The “b” button on either side lets you take calls or activate your voice assistant, as well as to control volume when pressing above or below it.
Equipped with custom-built 40mm transducers, the new headphones aim to deliver exceptional audio quality by minimising electronic artefacts, latency, and distortion. It supports Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking and features upgraded beam-forming microphones coupled with an intelligent noise-learning algorithm to ensure high-quality calls.
Pairing is seamless across both iOS and Android devices, with additional features like hands-free access to Siri and Audio Sharing available on iOS. Unfortunately, they do not feature any active noise cancelling (ANC) capabilities.
The Solo 4 boasts an impressive battery life of up to 50 hours on a single charge, with Fast Fuel charging technology that offers up to 5 hours of playback from just a 10-minute charge. In terms of colour options, the new headphones are offered in Matte Black, Slate Blue, and Cloud Pink.
Meanwhile, the Solo Buds is touted to be Beats’ most compact earbuds yet. These feature ergonomically designed acoustic nozzles and laser-cut vents to enhance audio performance while relieving pressure, and come with four ear tip sizes for a customised fit. Each earbud is equipped with dual-layer transducers to minimise micro-distortions across the frequency curve, ensuring high-fidelity sound with uncompromising clarity and detail.
The Solo Buds also feature custom-designed microphones with advanced noise-learning algorithms for clear calls in any environment. Like the headphones, they lack any ANC features.
Additionally, the new buds offer seamless pairing with both iOS and Android devices, and support Apple’s Find My and Google’s Find My Device networks. Meanwhile, control is managed primarily through the “b” button, with single-tap and long-press actions supported, configurable via either iOS Settings or the Beats app.
The Solo Buds is claimed to last up to 18 hours of playback on a single charge, while its Fast Fuel tech provides an extra hour from a quick five-minute charge. They will be available in Matte Black, Storm Gray, Arctic Purple, and Transparent Red colourways.
As mentioned earlier, both devices are already listed on Apple Malaysia’s website, though you might have to wait a while before you can order them. The Beats Solo 4 is slated to be available locally sometime in summer for RM899, while the Solo Buds will only arrive in June for RM349.
