It looks like Microsoft may soon launch the Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 in Malaysia. Based on our findings, both are already in SIRIM’s e-ComM database, and have been approved by the local regulatory body as early as mid April 2024.
There are three devices in total: the Microsoft Surface Pro 10 and two Surface Laptop 6 models, likely referring to the 13.5-inch and 15-inch variations. These are labeled 2079, 2033 and 2035 respectively, which are confirmed to be the model numbers for the products based on Energy Star’s database, which also suggests that all three are equipped with Intel Core Ultra chipsets.
To recap, the Microsoft Surface Pro 10 offers a 13-inch PIxelSense Flow display with 2880 x 1920 pixel resolution, 3:2 aspect ratio, up to 120Hz dynamic refresh rate, 600 nits peak brightness, Dolby Vision IQ support, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The Surface Laptop 6, on the other hand, comes with either a 13.5-inch (2256 x 1504 px) or 15-inch (2496 x 1664 px) display, which uses a PixelSense panel with 3:2 aspect ratio, Dolby Vision IQ support, 400 nits peak brightness, and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection.
Under the hood, the Surface Pro 10 features either an Intel Core Ultra 5 135U or Ultra 7 165U processor, while the Surface Laptop 6 gets Intel Core 135H or Ultra 7 165H chips. Both come with up to 64GB of RAM and up to 1TB of SSD storage, while a dedicated key to summon the company’s first-party Copilot AI feature is also available on the former’s keyboard accessory and the latter’s built-in keyboard.
Microsoft claims that the battery life for both products can last up to 19 hours of typical usage, and 45W fast charging support via Surface Connect or USB-C is also available. Other notable features include Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3 and NFC connectivity, as well as preloaded Windows 10/11 Pro and Microsoft 365 apps.
I/O-wise, the Surface Pro 10 comes with two USB-C with USB 4/Thunderbolt 4 that supports charging, data transfer and DisplayPort 2.1, as well as a Surface Connect Port and a Surface Pro Keyboard port. Meanwhile, the 15-inch Surface Laptop 6 gets two USB-C with USB 4/Thunderbolt 4, whereas the 13.5-inch variant only gets one. Additionally, the latter two also feature a USB-A 3.1, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a Surface Connect port.
Recently, there’s been rumours of Surface Pro 10 and Surface Laptop 6 variants that will be equipped with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon X Elite platform. It is said that these are more consumer focused, whereas the Intel versions are intended for business and enterprise use. According to The Verge, Microsoft is expected to hold a launch event on 20 May 2024 to debut the Snapdragon version of its new Surface products.
While the listings for the Intel models in SIRIM suggests that a local launch is imminent, it is still unclear when that may be. It should be noted that the company will be holding its AI Day event in Malaysia this Thursday, though chances of it launching the new Surface devices then are pretty slim. As for the Snapdragon variants, there’s no indication they’ll roll out for the local market, at least for now.
